FOUNDATIONAL TRAINING PREREQUISITES

Choose one of the following:
  1. Receive at least 3 sessions from Dr Kate.
  2. Attend an Introductory  Seminar in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy with Dr Kate.
Other Requirements:
  1. Fill out the application through this link and send two character references. If you are of sound psychological shape then...
  2. Have an interview with Kate. If you live far away you can also do a zoom interview and we will see if the program is a good fit for you.
  3. Having regular  support from a  somatic experiencing therapist, and EMDR or registered craniosacral  therapist/RCST is required during the training at least every  month. This needs to happen with people outside the class, not TA's assisting.
  4. For all of those who are not  LMT’s, OT’s, PT’s, Chiropractor’s, Osteopath’s, Dentist’s, Lic Ac's etc; you will be required to take our anatomy class online  before or during the class at Dr. Kate’s School for the course.
  5. This is a professional training, and there is a lot of personal growth from taking the class;  yet ultimately we are training you to work with the public. Having  emotional regulation skills are required.
  6. To be in good psychological health and stability.
  7. Students who sabotage the class by  not cooperating with creating a safe relational field for the teacher, other students, and TA's will be asked to leave after one warning. This work is based in safety and compassion for all in room including the TA's and teacher.
A note about State requirements to practice
Massachusetts
Since this is a new profession there are no state licenses currently. In Massachusetts you can practice this work without another degree such as massage therapy.
New York
Craniosacral falls primarily under the massage therapy license. In other words, massage therapists have claimed it for themselves and are politically active in trying to make sure that other practitioners don't do it. Interestingly, it is not within the scope of practice of acupuncturists in NY (although we can do hands on therapy nonspecifically). Physical therapists, doctors, nurses, podiatrists, and chiropractors have an exemption that allows them to officially practice cranialsacral therapy. Ministers can touch therapeutically, but according to NYS law they can't practice cranialsacral therapy.

Miscellaneous Info about licensing and practicing.
Each state has its own set of rules. You would have to check the state that you are interested in practicing in, if you do not already have a license such as massage therapy, chiropractic, physical therapy, etc...
You can contact the biodynamic craniosacral therapy association of North America.  Edwin is the Judicial & Governmental Review Chair.  He may be able to help you state by state... on how to find out what is required to practice BCST...

Many states are trying to pass a bodywork umbrella licensing requirement to stop sex trafficking, that covers tons of different professions like Polarity, Feldenkrais, etc...including BCST:
