It is my hope that in the state of Massachusetts, and nationwide biodynamic craniosacral therapists become licensed providers to help create consistency and quality of teachers and practitioners. We are a relatively new profession, so it takes time to establish the structure and continuity of the training graduates receive. It is important to note that teachers who are certified through the Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy Association Of North America undergo specific guidelines based in hours of training, specific curriculum, and peer recommendations to become a certified teacher.
All certified teachers are on the BCST/NA website.
This is one of the most in depth training's you can take in cranial work! This two-year part time training consists of ten 5-day seminars, or eleven 3-day and three 5-day modules: providing 48 days of classroom attendance. It is taught by Dr. Kate Klemer. She has treated thousands of patients and is formally trained as a biodynamic craniosacral therapy teacher. Dr. Kate has spent over 400 days of her life in biodynamic craniosacral trainings. Kate Klemer is a BCST/NA-accredited teacher and practitioner, therefore she is bound by the Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy Association of North America's code of ethics in practice.

Foundational Training

Learn to listen and lean on the force that breathes us all.
What brought you here today? Is it because you have experienced a huge shift from cranial work on yourself or a loved one? Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy changes people’s lives for the better. Learning to listen to the greater forces of health at work, and magnifying them is what this form of treatment is all about. Scientists have discovered, that there is a bioelectric field of action that breathes through all living things. This bioelectric force directs your cells to do their job as a unified intelligent field of action. This is what we will be studying. This "force" that is the intelligence that underpins all function in the body and our planet has been acknowledged in many ancient forms of Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine for 5000 years BC. It cannot be denied, and now science is beginning to prove its existence.
There are many different types of cranial work, some say you can practice the work after a weekend class. I would not recommend that, because this work is powerful and cannot safely be learned from a book or a weekend class. Learning how to hold a grounding presence for ourselves over the two year training allows us to learn how to support the deepest level of grace and healing in others. Throughout the training you will have your own process from receiving and giving sessions that will allow you to become a more proficient cranial therapist. This cannot happen in a weekend. This training is intentionally over a 2 year time span so that large positive shifts can happen for you. Much of the training helps us learn and receive co-regulation in our nervous system's so that we can hold that as practitioners for our clients. That is why we have the same teaching team and students throughout the entire training to create a safe, consistent container as a unified class.

Learning co-regulation and self regulation is the heart of this work as we come into contact with imprints that use a lot of energy for us to be functional in the world. This training creates deep bonds and has the potential to re-wire your brain/system so that you can go out into practice and create a co-resonance with your clients for healing. You will learn how to set up a triad with your system and the breath of life holding a resonant energy field for the client.
Early imprints are deep and often happen before we can speak. There is hope because we can begin to repair these patterns with how we relate to them in ourselves and others by magnifying resource in our mind-body, and strengthening our relational field with others. When we begin to understand what our body-mind is telling us, we have a choice around how we react to it. Self regulation means that students learn how to settle within themselves in order to hold a slow, safe, settling field for their clients. When settling occurs between the cranial therapist and the client, a calming, quiet, greater sense of trust occurs. This allows for the inherent forces within the client’s system to emerge and show the practitioner its intelligent healing process. This type of cranial work is primarily about the relational field. Deep healing happens in relationship with others. We learn to hold that kind of healing here.
To take the training you must have a baseline of ability to regulate your emotions, and be in good psychological health. It is a professional training to eventually treat others. Many experience deep levels of healing by taking this training, yet have to start with the capability to stay emotionally regulated.
The classes are small intentionally so the teacher and table assistants are accessible to the group,
Learning to trust, and lean on the force of quantum energy that breathes all living things, is what we orient to, as well as coming in relationship to others from a non-judgemental neutral place. Understanding a visual reference of anatomy supports grounding, clarifying, containment of treatment sessions. A fuller sense of embodiment is a large part of what is often learned in this training. This greater embodiment helps us be able to ground while in relationship to the larger forces that act to communicate health to our system.
The training will consist of informative lectures with anatomy, clinical stories, and applications taken from my practice of cranial work since 1989. The learning environment is real world/practice driven, not theoretical in nature. There will also be practice sessions during the class with personalized training offered by Dr. Kate. There will be demonstrations of various holds and exercises about giving sessions to clients. Students will be encouraged to ask questions, and share their experiences. Dr. Kate's intention of the training is to provide a safe container for the entire group so that the work may deepen. That is why the class is 10-14 modules, over 2 years with the same Teacher, TA's, and group of students.
The biodynamic perspective of craniosacral work is that 90% of the work is done by following the client’s system while the treatment plan of greater intelligence unfolds in the full presence of the practitioner. This require's most of us to unlearn how we are with client's as many of us have a more western approach to being of service to others. We learn to be of service to the breath of life, and support that in our client's. In other words, we do not do the work, the breath of life does.
Dr. Sutherland founded cranial work in the early 1900’s, and did the kind of work Dr Kate is teaching after practicing his more mechanical cranial work for 40 years. This is an advanced cranial work that is ever evolving. The basis of this training is to learn about the relational field between self and others. The orientation to the connection between self and others promotes deeper healing.
Here are some of the things that you will learn:
The course is open to healthcare professionals from a wide variety of training backgrounds, as well as those who wish to become therapists from scratch.

Here are some of the things that you will learn:
- you will learn to track anatomy that is alive
- you will learn about the different tides and layers of healing that may come up during a treatment
- you will learn how to hold a neutral, non-judgemental, unconditional acceptance of others as a practitioner and student ( This has to happen to create a safety in the classroom. This applies to views about the teacher and other students.)
- you will learn to let go of your mind and preconceptions, and listen on a deeper level to what your client is needing support with
- you will learn the movements that occur during our embryological development. These embryological states are the basis often times of how the tissue movement is as it is breathed by the tides and breath of life.
- you will learn related fields of practice, such as basic somatic trauma work developed by Dr. Peter Levine and Babette Rothschild.
- you will learn basic understandings of Myrna Martin’s work in pre and peri-natal, processes as an approach to working with babies, children and families.
The course is open to healthcare professionals from a wide variety of training backgrounds, as well as those who wish to become therapists from scratch.
